Image trace with a part not closed

I have traced an image I need to engrave for a race award and the inner part of the river is not closed and


I cannot for the life of me figure out how to do it.

I made the part blue so you could see what isn’t attached.

You can manually edit the nodes that form your river. Do you want to set the circle around to fill or as a line, that is decisive for the procedure.

The circle will be a fill, I plan to engrave it all on a block of wood. When I turn on node editing there are no nodes on the bigger circle part.

I just exported it as an .svg and it looks like this…

There are different ways to do it. In my example, I have traced your original and deleted some of the dopped lines …

I have almost used the same procedure as in my first example. I broke the nodes from the road, duplicate the line, deleted one of the 3 lines and gathered them again. See the drawing. There are sure better or other ways to do it, but this went fast.
