Import from Corel Draw does not include full content

I tried your document and have an unusual problem. Although everything lines up properly on the screen the items are not lining up properly on the plaque. Specifically:

The outermost circle is broken. At the plaque top there is roughly 1/8" gap where the start of the circle is higher than the end of the circle.

The “Commemorative” text overlaps the GJ logo, is off center, and larger than the logo.

The state images overlay the inner circle line by 1/4 to 1/2 inch, but each image’s position wrt the line is different.

I’m recreating the entire clock face in LB from scratch to see if the problem is in the import from Corel or inherent problem between LB and the Algo laser. I will start a new topic once I have some answers.

As a result please stop spending time on the image as I won’t be using it.

That’s all most peculiar! What you see on the screen (and more precisely in the preview) should be what you get from your laser. It sounds very much like you have some hardware issues with your machine. Do you have problems with other designs?

Don’t worry, I stopped working on it once I’d uploaded the last versions.

EDIT:
I have just noticed a small misalignment between the inner and outer circles as well as some open curves set to fill so I’ve fixed those on my copies (it’s the Asperger’s in me!).

Editing Lines in LB
I am new to LB and have a problem with some basic operations. The immediate problem is cutting or trimming a line and more generally editing a line or shape.
For this discussion I built a simple drawing with 6 lines, forming two triangles. These are NOT the primitive triangle so the construction should already be a path. When selected, the EDIT/Convert To Path choice is not available.
If I have understood the documentation correctly I should be able to click the Edit Node tool, then click the shape, and finally be able to impact the lines making up the triangle.
The first image shows the two triangles, the second has the one triangle selected. The dashed line and arrows demonstrate that the top triangle is selected in line edit mode.

TOP TRIANGLE SELECTED IN EDIT NODE MODE.
I should be able to hover on the dashed line, click T, and have the top triangle’s line trimmed at the intersection of the top and bottom triangle outline. When I try this the cursor remains an arrow and nothing happens.
Leaving the EDIT NODE mode and hovering changes the cursor from an arrow to an almost straight line which some have called a squiggle. Still no impact from the “T”.
I’ve tried the C (corner) as well with no change.
Since this is clearly an operator error and RTfM has not resolved the problem could someone tell me what I’ve overlooked?

Example 1 – line edit issue.lbrn2 (14.9 KB)

Discovered the issue. The “Edit Node” icon appears TWICE on the left tool bar. The first is Edit Node, the second is Set Shape Start Point. I was using that tool icon trying to get Edit Node

I have never really noticed that before, perhaps because I knew where to find the tool I wanted. They are not the same, however they are in fairness, perhaps too similar :innocent:

Hover it long enough to get the Tool Tip. I can’t work without doing this!

Yeah, do that all the time, but more of a different icon perhaps would help, going forward

They are 2.5" apart on my screen. Never got them confused. For me with bad eyes, they all look the same anyhow!

I also like to do a Break Apart before Deleting Duplicates.

Good idea, I guess that would weed out any ‘partial’ duplicates.

I will give you not identical but the major difference is one has an arrow on the top and the other does not. The difference in outline density is not very appearent on a my laptop.

Marcus,

After I changed the states from FILL to LINE, did some other cleanup, deleted some extra I have the production time down to 25 minutes from an initial 165. Progress.

That’s great news :+1:  If you haven’t done it already I’d put the two large circles and the circles and ellipses in the logo on their own layer and set this to ‘Offset Fill’. That should reduce the time a bit as well.
