Importing an image into LB

I’m curious if there is a way to prevent LB from moving the layers around when I import an imagine? This feature is stupid. My layers and settings get changed and I’m constantly having to recheck the layers and settings for the them. Terrible! Also is there a way to tell it the most efficient path? Something about doing one object here and maybe the next one it will do or pass and come back…why, why?

Can you elaborate what you mean by this? Imported files by definition do not contain layer information. Importing files in no way changes these things.

By default, LightBurn will retain the last settings you used on a layer. They will not change until you manually change them or if you load a file with updated settings. There is an option to reset layers to their default settings on restart or with new projects. However, that is not set by default.

Can you provide a specific example of what you’re experiencing? There are various factors that affect laser path. Have you looked at the “Optimization Settings” in Laser window?

Yes…I get it saves the last setting used for the layer. I get the ease of this but shouldn’t be the default setting.

OK…I have a layer with an image.

I import another image, move that new image to a different layer. If I have multiple layers, LB moves some of the layers around an the power/speed settings.

As for optimization…I have multiple of the same image. 17 of them…5 sets of text all grouped and same layer…anther layer that has 1 image 4 times. LB will skip parts or go fill in parts it shouldn’t yet. Please see attached of LBs “optimized” path.

To confirm, you’re saying that you do not want LightBurn to retain the Cut settings for the layers for each project? If so then do this:

  1. Take an existing layer and configure the settings to exactly how you’d like them. Then push “Make Default for All”.
  2. Go to Edit->Settings->File Settings and enable “Load default layer settings on new or restart”

That should have LightBurn start with your defaults every time.

If you now have multiple layers, what is your expectation for what should happen? By default, I believe LightBurn will place layer order in the Layers window in numerical order.

Can you upload the .lbrn file for review please?

Thanks for all your help. I will live with the limitations. I’m not spending more time on trying to figure out someone else’s programming. I will just make new projects now instead of trying to load another image on a current project. So much for preparing. I’ll continue to tell the program to f off every 15 minutes. I need those outburst and the cats love it too!

I may not have been sufficiently clear. So far everything you’ve indicated seem to be addressable issues or related to familiarity with what’s available to you. Not sure why you’d want to actively perpetuate that and continue the frustration if it’s easily remedied.

But if you’re satisfied with this state then I’ll leave it at that. Let us know if that changes.

Addressable…is for the programmers. I het it…we have live qith aub par so long this look like gold.
