I have purchased a home-made CNC and it’s in my workshop as it is too big for my how, there is no internet access in the workshop, will I be able to install and run without internet?
TIA
LightBurn has to connect to the internet to verify/start a trial, and again later to activate the software with a licence key (although this part can be done offline using another computer) .
For the rest of the time, internet is not required.
I purchased a Wi-Fi dongle and used my phone’s hot spot, managed to install LightBurn but it does no fine the CNC machine. I was wrong about it being home-made it is:
QueenBee CNC Router:
1000/1500 Queen Bee CNC router Ball screw Version, 15mm linear rails throughout, 12mm balls crews.
UCCNC Control system and software.
Critical machine dimensions Overall machine size: 1180x1680x650mm
How do I get LightBurn to connect to this?
LightBurn will not find, directly connect with, or have “live control” of that motion controller, but can produce gcode files that you can indirectly open and execute from within the UCCNC software, although TBH the laser results I’ve seen so far are underwhelming (example), but you may have better success.
On the other hand, if you are looking to do router work, then MillMage should produce gcode files that will run fine on your machine and there is a UCCNC Custom GCode ‘Flavour’ available to select when setting up the device:
Thank you very much NicholasL. I install MillMage and the following is what I can select, there’s no UCCNC in the list, maybe it’s in one of the CNC machines listed?
Thanks again.
Hi Peter, select ‘Custom GCode’ from that list, then in Device Settings select UCCNC:
Thank you very much, now I can start learning how to use it:-)
No problem ![]()
Also the ‘Docs’ menu of this website has a list of MillMage resources to help you get started.
