Good afternoon,
I have a Two Trees Pro 20W and am considering installing limit switches. I’ve found an article here on installing them on a Sculptfun and presume I can use the same or similar switches.
What I’m not too sure about is the firmware and whether I need to change the one already installed. I was thinking of buying another controller and installing FluidNC firmware. A good idea? Unfortunately I’m somewhat computer illiterate and would need exceedingly simple instructions!
Also, is there a list of the GRLB $ commands and their meanings somewhere?
Thanks.
Most home or limit switches just pull the input to the controller low. It can be configured either way.
If your grbl machine lets you change the $20 group of commands, it should work.
You can google grbl commands or controls, there are far too many sites with that information to duplicate it here. Not to mention, I use controllers that don’t use grbl, so I’m pretty rusty on these although all of my grbl machine have home/limit switches.
I think @misken has a site with the steps to do this… hang in there and see what develops.
Correct.
Not required. 99% of all firmwares already support limit switches without any issues. Only very versions had bugs.
Depends. In most cases, it’s not required, nor beneficial. FluidNC is a great firmware, you will learn a lot, but function wise, your laser won’t be different
See the wiki of the original project: Grbl v1.1 Configuration · gnea/grbl Wiki · GitHub Though many manufacturers started to change the firmware and add new settings. These can only be provided by them.
