I dont expect anyone to know much about the laser we have, but its a Kasu KD1812S.
We recently got a new PC and I cant get the laser to connect at all. We have a Trocen AWC708C LITE Controller. No matter what IP I put in there it doesnt connect. There are 2 things that have changed - the PC and that the PC is no longer connect via wifi but now via ethernet.. At this point its been two hours so Im assuming that is where my issue is coming from. Our IT backed it up and everything so I have all programs, drives, etc.
Just wondering if anyone knows about that side of things on here that can help us out.
page 78/79 says the default IP is 192.168.8.8. You can either change the IP to be in the same network segment of the PC’s ethernet connection, or change the PC’s IP to be in the range of the controller. It could also be that, on a new machine, the firewall may be blocking connections to the controller, depending on the specific defaults and network setup. You may need to add an exception for the controller, although the manual doesn’t seem to sepcify which ports are used.
Ok, you have to either change the IP of the laser to be 10.2.1.x (x being anywhere between 1 and 255, 8 should be fine) or change the PC to be in the 192.168.8.x range. (I’m assuming it’s 192, and that 193 is a typo, as 193.168.x.x is not a valid private IP range).
I’d go with changing the laser IP if you are the only user of it, and the PC IP if you aren’t.
It’s possible it’s the firewall then. Can you ping the laser when it’s in the 10.2.1.x range? I’d suggest power cycling the controller after the IP change to ensure it’s acually changed.
ok, see if you can add an exception in the firewall to allow the program to connect; you may have to change the IP in whichever software you are using to reflect the change
alterntively there is a possibilty that the IP is in use by another machine. try pinging it again with the laser off; if you still get received responses, then change to another one.
Ok. I found 10.2.1.10 to ping when on and not when off. I changed the settings in the programs to that IP and still no connection SOOOO I am going to assume at this point its a firewall thing?
Sounds like it; If you can temporarily disable it to check, it will confirm. Not a good idea in general to keep it disabled, adding an exception is the correct approach.
I just disabled it - still same thing. I did see the programs were not listed to I added them into the firewall? Whatever you would call it - and unfortunately that didn’t work either.
Can you post the output of “ipconfig /all” and “route print”?
After this point I’d fire up wireshark and see what’s going on, but there may be something that sticks out with the other command’s outputs before resorting to that.
All looks sensible; can’t really go much further without deeper network details; there is a possibility that there’s something blocking it at the router level, although generally traffic is untouched on same subnet stuff; I think the best bet now is wait for IT to return!
Too bad they request I create a login to view the pdf.
My Ruida uses a static IP, it doesn’t have the ability to use DHCP to get it’s IP from your router, so you have to keep that in mind. My Ruida IP is defined within the router to associate my laser MAC address to the specified IP.. That way it won’t give the IP to someone else.
I’m sure you’re having an issue with the network. I don’t recommend you use find my laser using an Ethernet connection…
Yeah, as the time of digging and day went on, I am thinking the same… My IT dep. is SUPPOSED to be stopping by this morning before heading back to their training. So, hopefully they get me back on track. It has got to be something simple. I had this same issue a year or so ago when I first got this computer connected to Wi-Fi, but I don’t remember how we fixed it then, of course not lol
