Not the best photo but my file looks great and all my lines are smooth but it keeps coming out like this but if I slow it down some would it more than likely help?
You haven’t written or shown your settings, so everything in that context will be guesswork.
However, I still lean more towards a mechanical problem.
600 in/s
50% power
3 passes
30W diode
All my other designs look great at the same speed, you think it’s because yellow with a diode? Maybe it just isn’t getting through like it should? I typically only make one pass at those settings but yellow isn’t doing too well
If an inch is 25.4mm, 600 inches is 15240mm.
I don’t think a laser can do that per second, but I’m not the best at math and I don’t know that many laser machines.
Try setting your settings to mm and write what you get for the 600 in/s.
But in general your picture looks like some loose pulleys or loose belts.
Do you have overscan enabled? And what values … a screenshot of the cut/layer edit screen would answer a lot of questions.
If you have it set too high for the machine, it won’t go above the limits within the controller and will give you no warning.
In/m sorry haha
I’m going to post a pic of another job I’m doing for comparison
the orange layer is the same as the black i just had to run it 1 more time
It sounds much more normal and shouldn’t give the hacky movements.
You can’t compare the two designs 1:1.
I don’t understand that you “have to” engrave the same layer more than once, but you probably have your reasons for that.
You could, if you are absolutely sure that your mechanics are in order, test at a different speed, but I doubt a positive result. In the end, it is the design itself that could have a problem, I don’t have the opportunity to test it, I’m on a trip.
So my diode struggles with white and yellow but it will do them but in order to achive full engraving with no scorching then I have to do multiple passes at a lower power otherwise it scorches pretty bad but here is a job i ran directly after in a single pass same settings. also the issue persist with sizing and a different logo and the issues are in the same spots as before
@bernd.dk also where im having the issues kinda lines up with how it looks ion the lightburn previews so maybe it is the file? but everything looks super smooth in the nodes
It could be a problem with your design/settings. Your logo in the leader looks very nice from a distance. But if you get close you see almost the same pattern as in the preview. You can see the distance between the lines, which will be more clearly visible in the curves. You can try with a little less line spacing and after you have run fill, a round of line to mark the outer edges.
So create some new outlines after adjusting the spacing? just confirming because iv never ran into this issue
also thank you for all your help!!!
If I’m seeing what I think is the issue, it appears all over the photo…?
IMHO .. looks like some kind of mechanical issue to me…
No, not extra/new lines, I sometimes use after fill an extra round but as a line instead of fill. It’s just to mark the boundary a little sharper, with a line around the fill elements.
But it won’t compensate for possible errors of your mechanics. Try to rule that out first, what I’m talking about is more cosmetic polishing.
I did what you said and it for sure cleaned it up some, not perfect but I think I could tweak it into working!
It’s nice that there is some progress.
When I see that circle without “errors”, I now believe more in a combination of your design and the material that is causing the problems you are working with.
What is your line spacing (in mm)? Sometimes, for thin foil for example. I use very little power and cross hatch with 45 degrees and then a line around it. The disadvantage is, however, that it takes more time.
