I am fairly confident that once you have your maximum speed calculated from your processor speed and microstepper controllers (a stopwatch may also inform this) that your engrave speeds will produce the correct behaviour when they are equal to and below the maximum allowable speed.
Angled line segments can cause a speed that can exceed the maximum X and maximum Y speeds and i believe it can call for a reduced power output under that condition as well.
