I have a Boss LS1630 C02 laser, 105w. I purchased the last supper file on Etsy. When I frame the image in Lightburn, it looks good. But when I start the engrave, it engraves fine for the first few minutes when the gantry over shoots the image in one direction then the other direction. It does not stay in the frame. I pulled the image into Corel Draw to see if there were any additional lines not displayed in Lightburn. Did not see any. I tried both the PNG, the PDF and SVG files with the same results. Are the files corrupt or am I doing something wrong? Please help.
What does the Preview look like if you enable showing “Traversal moves”?
What speed setting did you set for the layer?
Can you take a full screenshot of LightBurn showing the design and cut settings?
If you burn a filled rectangle with the same settings do you get similar results? Is your laser otherwise functioning correctly?
How is your computer connected to the laser?
The laser works fine. I have engraved other files with no problems both before and after I tried to engrave this file. The original error message was “No enough extend space”. I moved the material to the center of the table (the table is 16 x 30). This is when I noticed the gantry moving strangely. I messaged the vendor and have not received any word from him. Thanks for your help. I really like the pattern, it only cost $7.00.
I don’t see anything obvious in the screenshot. I see that you’re using Current Position for the Start from mode. Have you tried with Absolute Coords?
“Not enough extend space” from the controller seems like the machine is aware that the scan will go beyond the boundary of the machine. It’s possible that Preview is not representative of the actual required overscan.
A couple of things to look at:
- try sending a much smaller version of the file, does it burn properly? You may want to consider using Absolute Coords or stay well away from the sides of the machine.
- try slowing down. Does that change the visible overscan?
