IMHO, anytime you have something that moves, it has to have clearance, this creates backlash. How much backlash is dependent on the amount of clearance.
I’ve done small designs using the F100mm, which has an spot size of ~15 microns (0.015mm), so it my head moves more than 15 microns it’s no longer aligned. I’ve gotten a much poorer coins if it’s not locked down when I lase it.
In addition, the head itself can be slid in or out, along the Y axes, and Lightburn has no way of knowing exactly where it is… There are certain assumptions that are made.
I’ve had issues trying to get objects registered between machines. I would like to do more pcb’s, but the fiber can’t drill any holes, especially with F4 type pcb’s. To make it work you need to move the part from the cnc drill to the laser and ensure alignment.. I can do it real close between the little cnc I use to drill holes and the co2, but I haven’t been able to include the fiber without slight adjustments.
To me, a jig is you drop it in and go. If you’re still having to adjust it’s location, the jig isn’t really helping much. On mine, the framing leds are so bright I can’t really tell where they are with any accuracy, usually enough if I’m off the eye can see it.
What I resolved to was better described in this post.
