Just starting out and having some issues

I recently purchased Lightburn, 1.3.01, and I’m having some issues with the laser not burning.
I have a FoxAlien 4040XE with controller and was using it with spindle for carving. I upgraded to the 40 watt laser.
I can get the laser to light up blue when Im in the Move mode and hit Fire and when in the Laser mode I can get it to Frame
When I hit start the laser will emit a light and moves like it is cutting but nothing is happening.
I checked the machine settings $32=1 and $30=1000 are ok, I tried different power levels.
Im just running a small test with the words TEST, so its nothing elaborate.
I did download LaserGRBL and tried and everything worked fine, so I eliminated my controller and laser.
I’m sure I’m doing something wrong here but I’ve exhausted everything… I read and re read the instructions, and the same on youtube and followed instructions, but can’t get it

A blue laser being emitted is a good sign! Have you correctly set the focus on your laser?

Yes as far as I can tell I focused it correctly…I lowered the laser until it met with the metal cylinder they sent …As I said I can get the laser to work pretty good with LaserGBRL, but I like Lightburn and wanted to use it

Thx for your help, I ended up uninstalling Lightburn then reinstalling and finding my laser, it seems to work fine now, except I need to tweak the settings
