I Need to include an “UMLAUT” but cant find away to achieve this , normal keyboard shortcuts do not seem to work " Ctrl + Shift + :" – AltGr + 2– or (e.g., Alt + 0228 for ä .. I use a PC so the mac code – Option + u does not apply. Any advice, LB ver 2.0.03.
If you can’t achieve this using the shortcuts, you can always open the character viewer (system tool) and then copy the character you need into LB.
Create one with the circle tool. Place it manually and group it to the text block
I do that for the tilde in Spanish text. “~” over the enya
yes thanks that’s what I come up with , I would think the text comes into engraving quite a bit so would hope the product development team would include a more comprehensive character data base, I use quite a lot of fancy characters and when I need an apostrophe it does not happen and leaves a large gap that looks wrong to the eye. Having to place the character manually is time consuming. its not just the apostrophe but the last character as well to get the spacing correct.
What native language are you editing?
LB uses your computer fonts. If you see it in your word processor, you should see it in your LB file.
What does your PREVIEW show??
Exactly the reason for my question have what I want in word but Lb seems to miss the symbols out, I can see all my fonts in LB view but obviously the previews do not show symbols for the font. I was wondering if it had something to do with us /uk shortcut key board actions.
The only way to get a complete answer is for you to post a lb work file with that displays the error.
Again, I ask you what language you are operating in?
I recall Umlaut o and umlaut u… What other special characters are you unable to display/engrave?
The developer team will give you better answers, more quickly, if you can fill in some data points the first time you are asked.
windows PC and GBRL in Lb if this is this what you mean. The font I am using all symbols work other than Umlaut ?? ,probably because I dont know how to access it. Seeing there is no allocated key on the keyboard for this symbol , I just need to find the keyboard combination shortcut to find it. Quotation marks are the closest. but as already said time consuming to place them manually . have found that windows key + period key brings up a panel with Umlaut symbol on it but cant find how to apply it.
Does you computer and keyboard use English? German? Other symbs? Turkish? Norwegian?
Ctrl+shift+colon then the vowel according to Google.
Since you are using Windows, in the search bar type Character map. In Character map, search for the font you’re using. Scroll down to find the special characters section and find the letter you want. Copy and paste that into your project. I don’t think Lightburn allows unicode input, but I may be wrong.
English UK , an option would be to switch to an international keyboard. Word has a customisable keyboard shortcut panel I dont think LB has this option.
Thanks Tim “sods law” turns out the font I am using has no Umlaut but I can get around this using the way you kindly supplied , I can copy the required symbol from another character set that does support Umlaut or Diaeresis which is almost the same . thanks bud.
Did not quite understand your post, after another post I realised what you had said so a big thanks to you as well.
