Laser cutter not cutting in a straight line

My laser cutter isn’t cutting in a straight line. Almost like a rhombus.

Any suggestions what the problem could be ?

If it has two belts along the Y axis, one is mispositioned by a tooth or two, which may indicate the belt tensioner is slacking off its job.

If it’s an old machine, the belts are worn out, have no teeth, and have slipped on the pulleys.

If it’s a new machine, one of the screws / couplers in the Y axis jackshaft across the back has come loose.

This test pattern is useful to identify mechanical problems:

GrundTest.lbrn2

Scale it uniformly to fit the platform and run it as fast as it will go in Line mode with optimizations turned off and power set to mark a sheet of cardboard. Any differences from the design will be informative; a photo will let us look over your shoulder.

Hi,

The belts are now tight and the beam where the laser head is on hits the front and back at the same time. So it’s square.

What other problems could it be that the machine is not cutting straight ?

We need more information before proceeding.

What kind of “Chinese Laser Cutter” is it? Photos help: how big / how many tubes / how old / anything unusual?

Which Ruida controller?

Upload the offending lbrn2 file along with a good photo of the results, showing what’s not right.

Run the test file and upload a good picture of those results to rule out some problems.
