I have been using Lightburn for 3 years now on my OmTech 60 blue Co2 laser. I attempted to dial in settings for cutting 1/8 hickory using just a simple square. The pattern cut a dark line, which would have been the square cut out, but above the horizontal lines of the square it engraved a lighter line. As you can see in the picture I attempted to fix i tin settings a few times but nothing worked. I have uploaded a picture for clarification. I used the laser the night before with no problems and the machine has not been moved. Anyone run into this issue or can shed some light on how to correct it. I did remove the lens, cleaned it and put it back together but that didn’t help. I appreciate any help.
If what Jeremy said isn’t the case, then it’s likelythatthe beam is hitting the nozzle and reflecting a ghost image. That would mean your 3rd mirror isn’t properly aligned or the head itself shifted.
In addition to the other suggestions, a sudden change suggests a nightmare scenario: a failed tube no longer resonating in TEM00 mode. The other modes give the beam a different shape, so it no longer focuses into a simple spot.
This lengthy discussion explains the situation and how to test for it:
My first thought was that you have another layer you turned “show” off but forgot to set it not to be cut. I’m sure the others are closer to solution, but sometimes the problem can be simple as this so I thought it’s worth mentioning.
