I have a Mantech desktop co2 laser and it will not move on the X axis, there are 4 driver steppers M542c’s and one of them in the 3rd from left position its indicator lights are not on.
However if I switch positions with another stepper driver it will light up green.
Any driver that goes in that position 3 will not light up. Any suggestions?
Are you moving cables or driver modules (i.e. the DM542)? If you are physically moving the drivers into position 3 and plugging in the X axis cables (specifically the Signal (5) ), then I would suspect that the 5 volts going to Pul+ and Dir+ is missing (or some sort of bad connection). If you have a multi-meter you can check the output at the controller as well as the input of the driver. If you are moving the cable (X axis) to another driver, and it lights up, I would suspect that the driver in position 3 is bad. Clear as mud, right?
Thanks, I traced the wires back to a relay and then the low voltage power supply so suspect it will be the power supply.
Just waiting for the multi.meter to arrive.
