Laser lens atomstack s40 pro

Hello

I am writing regarding my Atomstack S40 Pro laser engraver, which I’ve been using for some time now. Recently, I’ve noticed that the machine no longer cuts cleanly – instead, the material gets burned and the edges are not as sharp as they used to be.

I suspect the issue might be related to the lens, which I have not replaced yet. Could this be the cause of the poor cutting performance? Should the lens be changed after a certain period of use?

Additionally, I’m having trouble loosening the screw on the laser head. I’ve tried using the provided screwdrivers, but unfortunately, I haven’t been able to turn it. Do you have any advice on how to loosen this screw effectively?

I’ve attached some pictures for your reference. I would really appreciate any help or guidance you can provide.

Thank you in advance for your support.

Best regards,

Franka

You need a 1.5 mm Hex key (Imbusschlüssel).

Hi

Thank you so much. I will try.

These burn marks look as if the focus height is not set correctly.

It’s not a bad idea to clean the nozzle. Make sure to use the correct, well-fitting Allen key. Otherwise, the grub screw may become worn and stuck.
If this happens, it can still be removed with a screw extractor:

Hi
I tried with a 1.5 hex key, but without success… is there another option?

“No success” meaning, the hex nut is stripped, and the Allen key is slipping?

If it’s stripped, your only chance may be to use a screw extractor.

Again, Try cleaning the nozzle on the outside first, and ensure that you are at the correct focal height to the material.

Hi,
In have tried using an Allen key, various drill bits, a screwdriver and even a screw extractor. I managed to get the top metal part to move a little, but unfortunately I still can’t unscrew the screw.

If you have any other ideas on how I can unscrew it, I would be very grateful.

Thank you so much,
Best regards, Franka

Is this the laser head you have?

Try using the ball end of the hex driver instead of the square end. Sometimes that works better

Yes, I have such a laser, but I can’t unscrew this screw in any way… pictures attached.

It doesn’t work :sad_but_relieved_face:

Looks like its stripped out. I’ve had issues with this before. They must use a power tool to tighten it or the have locktite on it. Try using a hair dryer to heat up the surrounding metal a bit then retry. Only other suggestion would be to drill it out a bit then try using the easyout again. Don’t use too large a bit so you don’t mess up the threads. If you are able to get it out replace the screw with a new one.

It looks like you’ve tried a few things.

With the correct size screw extractor, it should be possible to remove this grubscrew. Can you add a picture showing the tool you used?

You will need to get a new screw to tighten it back up after this.

Please be aware:

Some things to try if nothing else works

I also tried heating it with a hair dryer and using a drill, but without success. It’s very small and hard to reach.
The only thing I can still try is epoxy resin — I’ve already tried fast-setting glue, but it didn’t work.

Hello

I’d like to share some great news with you… I managed to unscrew this tiny screw with pliers (see picture). I’ve replaced the lens, now I just need to get a new screw and then I can test if the laser works.
Maybe someone knows where I can buy this screw online if I can’t find it in a physical store.
Thanks a lot for any information and for all your help.
