hi I got an uv laser and I am try to figure out what the best setting is for the material
I am marking I have done an material test that comes with the software but I can’t see an difference through the Square so can some tell how to do an material that I go over the
material my marking once
I do not have a UV laser, but the first question you will get is what material are you trying to mark?
Did you use the Built-In Presets in LightBurn?
Both of those iterate over different power values and speed, but a UV controls power with the Q-Pulse.
To cover a reasonable range, I would recommend iterating through different Q-pulse and frequency values. Something like this:
You can download this Material Test Preset and import it here:
UV-Engrave_Material_Test_Preset.lbmt (1.4 KB)
Check to see if your laser source can actually reach these values. The laser’s spec sheet should include a “knee chart” showing the cutoff frequencies.
Oh, and store good values you found in a Material Library! This will save you a lot of time in the future.
You might also be able to find a ready-made material library for a 10W UV laser. (e.g., here on the forum, or on Etsy)
The lens you use also affects the power. A shorter lens (70 mm) focuses the light to a smaller focus spot, giving higher power density than a longer lens (150 mm).
