Laser not firing, although it runs like it is

Hi, i am new to this & have installed the lightburn for my creality falcon laser printer, runs GRBL. I have installed the correct driver & it finds the com4 port, so all ok, i can create images etc & i see it runs ok in preview, when i press start, laser moves & fires as it should, but the laser isn’t burning into the wood?

also, when i click stop to stop it running & press home for laser, this message comes up -
[0;31mE (1536849) gpio: gpio_isr_handler_remove(480): GPIO isr service is not installed, call gpio_install_isr_service() firste[0m

Without knowing your speed and power information, this could be bad or it could be normal. Power information would include the output wattage of your laser.

Maybe this thread will help.

Good luck

Hi Mike

The laser is a 5w, and when I was trying to burn, i had the laser power on full, still nothing…

The speed, i think from memory, was 6000?

i’ve gone back to using the laserGRBL program for now

That is pretty fast for a 5w laser. If it works in LaserGRBL, it should work in Lightburn. It is a settings issue. Are you using the same units for speed in both programs? It should be mm/m for diode lasers.

Is it actually lasing? With either software?
