Sculpfun S30 pro 10w. Laser stopped during a print. Now not recognised by Lightburn, no LEDs on laser module are lit, fan is not working. Power light at switch is on, so it is getting power.
Hi Joe,
If your laser hardware stopped suddenly, LightBurn cannot connect, and your laser module is also not performing as expected, I would start diagnosing from the laser head backwards.
First, I recommend unplugging and replugging the cables between the laser controller and the laser diode to see if there is a faulty/broken connection between them.
Are you using a Sculpfun Air Assist? I’ve had issues that would cause the board to ‘brown out’ due to the pump drawing too much power for the board to operate, causing it to restart. If you are, try disconnecting the pump to see if that helps.
Let us know how that goes.
Thanks. I have tried unplugging and attaching the cables, but no luck. Not sure i know how to test the wires unless i can get some different connections. I will try disconnecting the air assist.
I have it going again. Not sure what I did. Disconnecting the air supply did not help. I took off all the cables and replaced them with the original ones that were there before the extension I installed. The laser worked with the original cable to the module. It isn’t long enough to work well with the extension, so I re-attached to cables from the extension. But it works now. Not sure what I did.
That’s good, but you should still aim to replace that cable in case it is dodgy and fails again.
