Laser onto Paper

Hi

I know there are other ways to decorate paper but i am experimenting with the first page of a journal to mirror the front.

Has any one had experience with engraving paper before and if so do you have any tips. Like would less power and 2 passes be better etc etc

I have only done the one so far ( attached )

First thoughts are that the main logo transfers a bit through so a “sacrificial paper” would be required. Also i know because it is burning that charring will be a by product but it does smear so again any tips with regards to helping prevent that would be cool

I am using a creality 10w Diode laser

Many Thanks

Pull your focus out by 5-10% to soften the laser.

Low power and fast moves

I did this for someone last week and it worked ok with no charr and clean cut.
It was done on 80gsm red cardstock, the fill was good, like a light tan brown.

Thank you both - I ended up using 5000 speed and 20% power

Anything lower than 10% the creality doesnt seem to do anything plus i also put 2 passes on the smaller text with a 0.05 interval
