I have a CO2 laser cutter with a 50w tube and a MYJG50w power supply,
I had noticed last week that the laser power dropped in mid cut. Today i need to use again and it did not cut a 4mm MDF with the settings i always used.
So i did checking the ammeter and when it used to work for a 90% power the ammeter usually indicate 18-19mA now it show 9mA.
Is it the power supply faulty or tube or both?
The laser tube has 2 years and it is used maybe a couple of times a month for hobby projects.
Seems like the HV power supply had a heart attack.
They’re (relatively) cheap & easy to replace, so it’s a good starting point.
If the new supply doesn’t solve the problem, then suspicion falls on the tube, but they’re (relatively) expensive & difficult to replace, so hold that in abeyance until proven otherwise.
We really like seeing “custom build” machines around here: show off some pictures!
