Laser runs to the top RH corner then returns home - bumps the rail several times and does not stop

When I go to run a file my laser runs to the top right hand corner not to the starting point, and it returns to home but bumps the rail several times and does not stop until I stop it.

mine does the same cant get nothing done

@Ray1 We’re probably going to need to do a little troubleshooting to see what’s going on. It sounds like the Ortur is attempting to home and not finding where to stop trying.

Has this machine always behaved this way?

If you’re available for a little bit of troubleshooting in LightBurn there are four reports that we can request from your engraver.

In LightBurn, with the Console window open, enter the following four commands into the Console window. Please press enter after each line:
?
$i
$$
$#

Once these reports are produced in the Console window please copy and paste the whole works into a reply here.

The Yorahome laser is a fair bit different but some of the troubleshooting is the same. If you’re so inclined, please perform the same report request (recommended above) in the Console in LightBurn.

I’d like to confirm that the behaviour is absolutely identical before I move your post to it’s own thread.

It’s very likely that the problem is strangely similar in appearance and not quite absolutely identical. It will be interesting to see what the differences are.

John, I have through my ultimate wisdom and getting my head out of where the sun don’t shine figured out the problem, Seems I left an object inside my cabinet and it got hung up between the end and the rail…sorry

That’s a very similar story to how the first computer “bug” was discovered. You’re just following in the footsteps of the geniuses that came before us.
