So I upgraded to the Monport v2 board for the K40 last night. Everything went off without a hitch and all things seem to work fine. Got to cutting some leatherette patches last night which is my main gig for the machine and my settings seem to be quite different between Nano w/ K40 Whisperer setup and Monport board w/ Lightburn.
220 / 7.3 was my jam in K40 Whisperer and now I am at 330 / .1 in LB to even get close and it’s still a little too hot. Is there a settting I missed or is that just the way things are?
What are the units for these values?
Speed mm/s and % power, so 220mm/s and .1% power
If the laser is firing at .1% power then there’s absolutely something wrong. If you have a typical K40 tube and LPS I’d expect minimum power required to fire the laser to be in the 3-4% range.
What is the S Value Max setting in Edit->Device Settings?
Also, what are the values of $30, $31, $32?
Did you have any issue with the installation? I’d suggest doing a review of the installation to make sure you haven’t missed anything. Pay particular attention to the PWM pin.
No issues with instal at all, swapped the plugs over, double triple checked the PWM wire hooked up correctly. Fired it up and everything moved correctly, the intensity of the burn varies with power. 100% will crater the material, .1% engraves it. Have even tried .01% and still fires.
What is the value of S Value Max in Edit->Device Settings?
Did you change any of these values? PWM frequency of 1 hz is very strange.
Same as machine settings 1000. I have not modified any settings, these are how they were
Can you take a sample design that you’re running at .1% power and go to File->Save gcode, save with .txt extension, then upload here.
Want to confirm the controller is getting the right information.
I did a search for the normal value of $33 and others seem to have the same value so apparently that’s how it’s shipped. I have to assume it’s actually meant to be the value in kHz but not sure.
