Laser slamming into the corner when trying to burn

Hi, when I frame where my laser is to burn, everything seems fine, I have everything matched up exactly where I want things to burn. When I press start so the burn can begin, my laser slams into the bottom corner of the area, going outside of the framed area, and begins to burn there. I have no idea what I’m doing wrong but I haven’t been able to get my laser to work all of a sudden. I’ve done many successful burns and this happens at random. What setting can I use to get this to stop? I feel like I have tried every setting there is. What would cause this? I am using an atomstack a 20 pro and light burn software in my MacBook Pro. I had this issue off and on since I got it and can’t quite pinpoint the issue.

Most likely you have the machine origin incorrect. Open device settings (Wrench & screwdriver icon) and set the origin to the corner your laser homes to, probably lower left.

If that’s not the issue post a screenshot of your entire Lightburn screen with your project loaded and the Cuts/Layers Panel and Laser Panel visible. Also post a screenshot of the Settings Window (Gears icon) with the Units and Grids tab visible and post a screenshot of the Device Settings Window (Wrench and Screwdriver icon).

I’m trying to upload an image of what my screen looks like.

How can I set the laser homing properly so it won’t slam into the corner anymore?

This is how it needs to be set.

I tried it and got this error message after it still did the same thing except this time it ran Into the side of the machine instead of the corner, and I am also posting how I adjusted the settings it is still framing properly, but just will not burn in the right place again.

Does your machine have limit switches?

I’m not sure. How do i tell if it does? I was also wondering if the laser is supposed to be in a certain position when I turn on the laser itself or can it be anywhere on the grid?

Take a picture straight down over your laser withthe laser head somewhere in the middle and post it.

OK, it doesn’t look like you have limit switches so here’s what you need to do. Turn off the laser and move the head to the front left corner then turn it back on. This sets your home position. You can verify this in the move panel by clicking get position. It should read X=0 and Y=0.

Every time you turn on the laser it needs to be in this position. Don’t move the laser head with your hand, only use the move arrows in the move window.

I did that. Thank you for your help I sincerely appreciate you trying to help me get this figured out. Now when I tell it to start the burn after framing it to make sure the correct area will burn it is still telling me that the cut will be out of bounds. I tried it and it still slammed into another area and does not begin the burn in the framed area appropriately. What can I check on from here?

Take a screenshot of your entire Lightburn screen.

I think i see what’s going on. You have the job origin set to the center and your start from set to current position. With that combination and your laser head in the corner its trying to wrap your graphic around the laser position. You have a few options of how to address this.

I’ll start with this one to get you through this job. On the left toolbar there is an icon that lookls like a map pin. Click it, then click on the center of your graphic. The laser head should move to the middle of the bed. You should be able to start your project without issue.

I’m here if you have more issues.

This is a video I did that may help with understanding the different modes.
