Laser Solves Kitchen Issue

I eat a LOT of popcorn (roughage in my diet) and bought a popcorn popper machine. After some use, I got tired of hot oil popping thru the vent holes. The holes are for steam to escape, so covering them was not an option.

So I decided to create a baffle to vent the steam, yet block the oil spatter. Everything you need to know is in the attached Lightburn file.

And yes, there is a little red cover you attach before turning it over.

For those that may not like popcorn this could also be used as an Anti Cat fishbowl cover device…and if you dont like goldfish just laser some small flies on the underside!

I just thought of another use. How about an elevated glass coaster? Three legs so it would not wobble on any surface.

If you don’t like goldfish, leave them in the bowl and laser the bowl.

That idea has potential…Flat coasters are so yesterday!!

As long as you are using coconut oil…

I am, butter flavored!

I engraved a single kernel of popcorn when I was fine-tuning my 100W. Does that count for anything?

Only if it pops

I thought about defocussing and boiling a drop of oil with it, but I thought the engraving was cool enough.

Ha! Love the real-world solution! Also, thanks for the title, which wasn’t “a new use for a laser”.

UPDATE: It worked like a charm. Now I do not get a Hot Coconut Oil Treatment on my belly!

Very ingenious.
I always thought the vented top was where you put Butter and covered it with the cover that comes with it.

Thanks!
Yes and no. Butter yes, but it has to stay open to vent steam according to instructions. The holes are fairly large and that is the problem.
