Laser stops firing

I built a larger frame and took the psu from a k40 and installed a ‘‘50 watt’’ tube running a cohesion 3d board, when i run a project the laser may burn anywhere from a few seconds to a couple minutes and stop lightburn says usb lost, if i run same project without laser firing it will complete the project everytime without stopping any ideas what is causing this

USB communication is notoriously sensitive to electrical interference, particularly near CNC machines and CO₂ lasers, so make sure you’re using a known-good, high quality cable; apparently the cable shipped with K40-grade lasers is mmm known-bad.

The discussion of wiring on the Cohesion forum may be useful:

Pay particular attention to the commentary on proper grounding. You want all metallic parts of the machine connected to the plug’s earth (“safety”) ground terminal. Normally that happens when all the various cases and PCBs and motors and such get screwed to the frame, but you may have missed something in a homebrew machine.

I borrowed a friends laptop which is running windows 10 same as my laptop and laser is running fine on his it is something on my computer, no settings have been changed, it is only used for laser, i’ll check to see if windows done a update, it ran the laser fine for 2yrs. before don’t know what changed on it.
