Laser stops in the middle of the cut, now it is "busy or paused"

Two common possibilities, listed in the order of Most Likely first:

  1. The low-cost USB cable has poor shielding or excessive signal crosstalk.
  2. The laser power supply is going into thermal overload and low voltage.

Try this:

  1. Purchase a quality shielded USB cable with one or more ferrites on it. Limit the length to 10’ or less.
  2. Try burning at a much lower power, and speed, to reduce the load on the power supply. If it repeatedly makes it to completion, you have found the culprit.
