Laser won't focus

I have an Eleksmaker A3 Pro that has been working great with Lightburn. Now all of a sudden the beam won’t focus which results in a blurry engraving. Could it be that the laser has reached end of life? I don’t know how many engravings I have done, but I’d venture a guess it’s less than 1000.

TIA

Tom

Did you clean the lens regularly?

When this occurs, after checking for clean optics, do a ramp test.

:smile_cat:

Yes, I even removed the lens to check for any obstruction.

Haven’t tried a ramp test. This isn’t a fixed focus laser though.

Doesn’t matter… set it to where it’s supposed to be and ramp test it.

If it’s not focusing in the same place, this will show it…

Since the problem is it won’t focus, I’m suggesting you test the focus.

I’ll give it a go. Thank you!

Tried the ramp test several times and it won’t focus enough to burn the line at all. Thinking about just replacing the laser. Anyone know where I can find one that will work on the Eleksmaker?

Did you have it enough range?

Did the beam get smaller then larger or nothing at all?

:smile_cat:

I used a 10" line. The beam started large and never changed.

Length of the line has no meaning… How much variation is Z height is what I’m asking…

You want the beam to start wide, get to it’s smallest width, then grow wide again… This means you’ve covered area on both sides of the focal point…

It’s possible that that laser module is broken… and would explain the cause of your post.

:smile_cat:

I have to get a project out, so instead of messing with this, I ordered an Atomstack A5 Pro.

Thanks for all your help! I appreciate it.

That should fix it… rather harsh, but whatever works…

Good luck
