Laser Z axis location

Good evening I am just curious. I have a Longmill MK2 CNC machine with a laser attachment. I am setting up some repeatable bottle openers and when I set my laser Zaxis with the guide it is good when I frame my project but when I go to run the program my Z axis goes down and almots burries itself in my work piece. Is there a place where I can set my Z axis to zero and know it is at zero.

Thank you.

I will initiate the dialog…

Lightburn was never intended to be a 3rd axis program. That just sort of happened. That said, you have to be very observant of what Lightburn is going to do next, BASED ON YOUR SETTINGS. The difficulty is determining why the Zaxis does what it does. This seems to best be done by examining the GCode that Lightburn outputs. Copy the first 20-25 lines of your program and paste it in a reply. Then others can review and comment on it.

Your settings in the Laser and Device settings windows impacts what the Zaxis does and when. You can also modify Zaxis actions using Macros and the Custom GCode feature.
