Lighburn 2.1 Speed is interpreted as mm/sec. Was mm/min.?

Speeds are all wrong now.

It seems that the “design” units and the “Material Library Thickness” title and the “Spd/Pwr” output are all linked to either all mm or all inch.

Has this changed?…

Quoted from v2.0

“Machine Units¶

This section controls the units that LightBurn will use for the size of your machine’s work area and for the speed when cutting and engraving. The options are grouped based on device type they’re recommended for.

If you prefer to design in inches but use metric units for speed, choose Inches / mm/sec for CO2 and Galvo lasers or Inches / mm/min for diode lasers.”

I prefer to design in Inches and use metric units for speed. How can I achieve this set up in 2.1?

I do the same, but switch design between metric and imperial like a hot potato. Turn off the Unlink switch.

The problem is that where I had a speed of 10 entered, it is now interpreted as a much slower speed, It is now interpreted as 10 mm/min, and before it was 10 mm/sec. All of my projects now run too slow unless I manually change the values.

Not broken…just a movement of settings.

Make sure your “working units” are set to what you normally use. In my case I use Inch. This is set at the right end of the “Numeric Edits” Tool Bar.

Then go to the the “Laser Tool” pulldown menu and select the “Device Settings” (Wrench).

Click off the “Link Control and Design Units”

Then Select your Control Units by clicking the little upside down pyramid symbol.

In my case “in / mm / sec”.

All was good after that…

yeah, wth… I didn’t think twice about doing an upgrade.

As a result, I have too many things to do before I can use my laser as intended today,
time I didn’t have to waste.

While I welcome the new changes, from what I’ve seen so far, lots of long awaited features added/fixes made, they could have better prepared (warned) users.

I’m in the middle of recalibrating my camera, yet another unexpected “surprise”….. the old setting are nowhere to be found.. and the new system is glitchy as well… the more things change, the more they stay the same.
