Hello all,
I have an Omtech 50w with ruida controller.
I usually operate at 35%, around 12mA which is way below the recommended operating power. I think I messed with some parameters in LB, because what ever power I use, the current is now only 5 mA. I tried, 35%, and 70% all end up 5 mA. My Ruida max is set to 35%. I do not think its the tube or power supply, because when I pulse, I get my 12-13 mA. s there something Ive done wrong? Thanks for the help
Assume you did not modify any of the Ruida settings via the machine settings.
There are two control signals to the laser power supply (lps).
One is laser enable, which becomes active when the controller want’s it to lase.
The other is pwm, this controls the lps maximum current allowed.
Since it’s lasing, we can be fairly certain that laser enable is active.
That only leaves the pwm signal. Do you have a voltmeter?
I assume you are pulsing it via the machines console?
It’s odd that you don’t experience the same issue with the pulse button.
What is max power set on the console?
thanks for your response. I might have messed with the machine setting (I was looking to set the overscanning and realize now it’s handled by Ruida). Heres a screen capture of it, but I dont see anything related to power, only speeds and acceleration.
For pwm, yes I have a voltmeter. What should I be measuring and where?
Yes I was pulsing from the Ruida panel (again max watt is at 35%, which is about 12-13 mA).
I just open the console, and nothing appears. I am assuming you’re talking about LB console? Or the cuts/layer tab? On the cuts layer I am currently at 35%
And you re right it is odd that pulse from the Ruida panel gives me the expected 12 mA. I am really puzzled!
BTW I just looked up and the console in LB is only activated with GRBL. I have a CO2 with Ruida which is a DSP not GRBL. So I assume when you say machine console you are talking about the ruida control panel. I also reset the LB parameter to default. So I guess, it is a Ruida problem not LB
You need a dsp license to run a Ruida, which is enabled by Lightburn. If you license is only for grbl, you should not be able to even talk to the Ruida…
Did you create a new device for the Ruida machine?
The power settings is under the vendor settings and is the last one…
Hi, yes I have a dsp licence, have been using it with my omtech for almost 2 years now.i was just responding to somebody directing me to the console in LB which does not exist with Ruida. Thanks for the help on the vendor setting, I’ll check it right now.
hello, got an update. I use to cut 1/4 inch acrylic using 5 mm/s, 35% max power (around 12 mA) and 10% min power. When I do it now I need to set Lightburn at 35% max and 35% min and the it cuts at the expected 12 mA. Otherwise it cuts at min power only, I dont know what has changed, It looks like either the speed is too slow or somehow I have to set max = min power. I dont know if there is a parameter that changed. Again thanks for your help, it’s appreciated
Don’t reset it
it won’t help you and will destroy all of your vendor settings.
Remember these are generic controllers and the factory settings are likely not what the people who made it has programmed it.
Do ensure you have made a copy of your settings via the machine settings…
A factory reset is the last ditch effort before throwing the Ruida in the trash and only with a good copy of the settings…
