LightBurn 1.6.00: Shared settings on a network folder for the use on two computers?

Hi Everybody!

I’m new to lasercutting and exited to join this forum. I just bought myself a Creality Falcon2 Pro 22W. Now I need to learn.

I found these two topics unsolved: LB settings on a shared drive/folder for use on two computers? (Dez. 2021) and Sharing LightBurn Settings Between 2 Computers (Aug. 2022)

I have almost the same issues as @TheQueb described in Dez. 2021. I am designing on an Office-Computer and produce the parts on my Shop-Computer (both Windows 11 Pro). I would be very glad if this two computers could share the same settings. My working folders are on a NAS. Here I would love to place the settings as well.

In Dez. 2021 @LightBurn wrote:

There isn’t a simple way to do this, no.

Now LightBurn 1.6.00 has been introduced and I would like to raise this question again. In LightBurn 1.6.00 the User Bundles have been introduced. This still needs manual export and import.

Is there a possibility that all the mentioned User Bundles settings are stored in a shared folder on a network drive and LightBurn imports them automatically on startup?

Thank you very much!

Greetings, Timo

In short, no - we don’t want to do that at this time.

Settings, preferences, libraries, and other files used by LightBurn are saved and updated more than just when you shut down. If you have multiple computers accessing those files at the same time and updating them, they can get out of sync, or even corrupted, causing lost work. I’d rather have no solution (so users know they need to migrate manually) than one poorly done.

Thank you for the feedback. I can understand that.

My workaround is to start both computers if necessary and prepare them via Remote Desktop, TeamViewer, etc.

The solution is also reasonable for me. I just wanted to ask to draw attention to the issue and make sure I hadn’t overlooked the function.

It is no big deal to synchronize the two computers manually from time to time via User Bundles offered since LightBurn 1.6.00!
