Hi all,
Just installed the trial version of Lightburn and trying tp copnnect to my 50w blue and white laser but if fails to “find my laser”. I’ve tried multiple USB C and A cables, installed RDWorks, installe d the FTDI serial drivers, but nothing seems to allow the find my laser function to work. The laser USB port work when using a USB memory stick. The laptop USB doesn’t make a sound when I plug the laser in but it does when I plug a USB or mouse in etc.
Any suggestions? Would really like to test software prior to forking out the cash for the license.

Do you have the ability to use Ethernet instead of usb? Ethernet works, no drivers (already there and working if you can access the local lan)
You can configure it on your local lan. I dumped usb after about a week or two.
Can You send us a picture of your controller and explain where you plug in your USB cable?
On a RuiDa controller, the correct port is called “PC-USB”.
It won’t work if you use a USB-C cable from the computer and connect it to the USB-A port (Udisk) on the controller. - The connectors fit, but it won’t work.
No ethernet port on laptop
Hi Aaron
Thanks for your reply, sorry about the delay, xmas and new years and end of year work commitments got the better of me. Attached is a picture of the controller, I have tried the USB A cable in both the “USB Interface” port and the “USB socket” port, neither seem to be recognized. The port labelled “USB Socket” port works find with a memory stick when using RDworks.
I’ve just extended the trial version and updated to 1.7.04, so hopefully I can sort this out with your help.

We have fairly comparable machines, with the same controller, it seems.
As @jkwilborn is saying, a LAN connection from LightBurn to your Laser machine is the most stable and easy connection.
Suggestions on how you could use LAN instead of USB:
If you have an internet connection in your house, you probably also have some kind of router, if it is not suitable for W-LAN, buy a cheap repeater or wireless router. I primarily use a PC to control my laser in my workshop, i.e. it is physically connected to a small cheap LAN switch box via network cable. At the same time, my laser is also connected to this small switch box. From my office or living room, I access my laser and my “machine computer” directly via W-LAN. With my laptops, I can work with my laser via W-LAN in the same way as with the directly cable-connected computer.
Alternatively, there is also LightBurn’s own W-Lan bridge.
I got a cheap bridge from Amazon and that worked fine. Configure it for a wireless bridge.
No need for Ethernet ports on your machine, just access to your local network.
The PI versions are more expensive and are operationally more comprehensive, unless you have a PI laying around you’re not using. I used my two, and the humidity or thunderstorms caused them to fail. Actually one got slightly rained on…
Good luck
