Lightburn cut and engrave not being aligned

I have an issue when i have an engrave layer and a cut layer. I have a lasermatic 30w. I do the engraving with the 10W then switch to do the cut with the 30w. when I switch one from the other when it cuts it is misaligned. any thoughts on how to correct this? does it need to be rehomed or something?

Are you switching, then re-Homing the machine? When you flip that switch, you might be pushing the module sideways a bit.

If you have a GRBL controller, you can set $1=255 (in most controllers) to keep the stepper motors powered up all the time. Then you cannot easily move the laser module with your hands.

No I do t rehome it when I flip the switch. But it could be possible that I am moving the laser head when I do switch it. And I have not tried that with th stepper motors. I will give tht a shot as well.

where do i find the settings for that? i am kind of new to lasering.

With the machine powered up and connected, Laser Tools, Machine Settings. Immediately save a backup of your parameters before changing. If you do not see $1 listed, a small triangle on the bottom row will expand the listing.

Not all controllers will let you change parameters. Not all controllers respond to the $1=255 setting.

Resist the urge to experiment with the other parameters.
