Hello, I’m using a Longer Ray5 20W engraver on a Dell XPS 9320. I’ve been using lightburn for many projects. Hooked up the extension…followed the directions and wiring diagram…now the software stops the engraving a portion of the way through my project…Help! Just can’t figure out why.
Thanks!
Mike
When you say hooked up the extension, do you mean you made the work area larger? Or something completely different?
Hi, I’ve added an extension to the frame…making it longer. Also, I have tried running lightburn versions 1.3 and 1.703…I’ve uninstalled, reinstalled, tried taking back to default settings…still the same…my son also uses his computer with the 1.3 version and has not trouble at all…so it’s something in my software that I must have incorrect.
Sorry to add…I’ve also tried just burning text created in lightburn and importing a png and jpg. No luck…it just stops burning in the middle of the project. This just started since I did the extension…but again, my son is using the same machine and lightburn 1.3 (he never did the upgrade) and it works great for him.
Did you change the size of the machine in GRBL Settings after the extension kit?
In the console window type $$ then press enter. Copy/Paste the output here.
Yes, the directions said to change Y to 850.000mm and X seemed to stay the same at 400.000mm
Did you change it in the firmware as well as in the Lightburn window? Paste the console output I requested above for verification please.

Thank you, that looks correct. Can you show where the engraving failed? Show your Lightburn screen with the project loaded and a picture of the project in place on the laser showing the failure.
Does it fail in the same physical location on the laser bed or is the failure random?
I already backed out of my project and turned off the engraver…can we pick this up again tomorrow?
The failure is random
