Lightburn Installation Question about Directories

hi,

i tried to run the lightburn installation (LightBurn-v1.5.01.exe) that I downloaded from the homepage but somehow i am missing an option to install it on my windows based computer in a specified directory. I have ALL my programmes installed on a different harddrive (other than the typical c:\ drive) and EVERY programme has its own directory and that is very efficient because if I look at the drive where I install my programmes I can see straight away a list of programmes that are installed.

I do not like the idea of windows pushing stuff where it thinks i would like to have it.

Is there some why to install lightburn on a different drive and in a specified directory other than the default installation settings?

kind regards

A similar question was raised recently. Check this out:

nope. did not work. i have tried the following:

d:\laser\lasersoft\installers\LightBurn-v1.5.01.exe / DIR="d:\laser\lasersoft\lightburn"

it started the installer, BUT the programme was installed under c:\program files.…

i think this is bad because a drive where the system (in my case windows) is on
should (in my opinion) ONLY be for the SYSTEM and not for user related software.

that is one minus point for lightburn.

i have an xtool laser and even the xtool software “xtool creative space” software lets
you as a user choose where you would like to install and that is what nearly every
software there is does … a programme that does not really like this procedure is adobe products but if you tell it to install on a different drive it will actually do it and
only pop the relevant system files in the system-drive.

lightburn ought to be able to do that as well in my opinion.

hi (again),

now i got it to work … the syntax was slightly wrong. the right syntax is:

d:\laser\lasersoft\installers\LightBurn-v1.5.01.exe /DIR="d:\laser\lasersoft\lightburn\"

or to simplify it for future users:

LightBurn-v1.5.01.exe /DIR="your_destination_choice"

(there must be a space behind the “exe” but no space between the slash (/) and the “DIR”

The installer shows no difference but when the software is being installed you can
see that i does install the files to the directory of your choice.

A bit silly that the Software does not offer that in general, but a cool tip to remember
for the future.

This is how I originally documented it was it not?

wrong-format

to me that looked like leaving a space between the slash and the DIR due to the
linebreak, so i assumed that there had to be a space and that did not work.

sorry about that.

Ah. Might have been easier if you had clicked through to the linked post. It’s shown more clearly.
