Anyone with a Mac OS is having issues with LightBurn no longer working with their controller when upgrading to the latest version.
My question is, since I have my controller connected to my Mac via Ethernet, is it safe for me to upgrade my version? Are the issues only with USB?
Also, will upgrading delete all my user settings and layer configuration?
The issues are because of what appears to be a bug in the USB driver provided by MacOS. Ethernet connections are not affected at all.
Updating the software should not affect your settings or layer configs either, however you can back them up to be sure. Run the current version of LightBurn, go to File → Export Prefs and save the preferences file onto your desktop or anywhere else you’ll remember. Upgrade LightBurn, and if any settings are lost, use File → Import Prefs file to import them back again.
LightBurn also makes automatic backups every time your prefs change. You can see them by going to File → Open Prefs folder, and looking in the backup folder. You can copy any of the backups out onto your desktop then import them, just as you would an exported prefs file.
Thank you !
Your suggestions did not work at all.
The Lightburn version I had did nothing have an export prefs menu.
It did have an open prefs folder menu so I did that and copied all the ini files to my desktop as a backup.
After installing the new LightBurn version, I now have a men option to import or export prefs.
My old prefs were not 100% picked up correctly in the new version. So I went to import my backup ini files and low and behold the Import is expecting a different file extension of .lbprefs.
You might need to rename the file to have the correct extension. I didn’t realize they were different.
