Hi,
I have a boxford BGL690 and came with lightburn software. We have recently had a new laptop added to help with the cutting, but not sure if we have selected the right model as we are managing to engrave but not fully cut through the acrylic plastic on the laser. What setting should I have it on and waht model should be selected?
Hi @RachelNute
If you still have the old laptop, you can move all your user settings by creating and exporting a user bundle.
Ruida-based CO2 lasers like the Boxford 690 usually have a 60 to 80W CO2 tube. The power settings and speed depend highly on several factors. But I’ll give a generic example.
When I’ve serviced machines like this in good working order, I’d expect to cut through 3mm clear acrylic with settings of about 15 to 25mm/s at a Max power of 65% and a Min power of 60%.
However, have you set the focal height properly? Is your machine aligned, and are the mirrors and lenses clean? Have you turned on the air assistance on the layer settings?
There really is no one right setting for cutting any materials.
You might find, once you’ve worked out what is going on (and we’d be happy to help with more info like screenshots of your settings) you will find the material test helpful.
