Lightburn not finding 40W laser and when added manually there is no port to choose from

Monport 40W, MacBook Pro M2 chip running Sonoma.

Many have found connection problems with Mac and their laser to be an issue with how MacOS translates, or rather doesn’t translate the onboard USB 3+ to the USB 2.0 of the laser. The most common solution seems to be using a "dumb: USB 2.0 hub connected though a Lightning adapter. Faulty, cheap USB cables are another source of problem for Mac and PC users alike. Get a high quality USB cable, with the ferrite core on the ends and a USB 2.0 hub and see if that solves your issue.

Thank you for the response. I have tried both with no luck as well as several other tips and tricks. Kinda frustrating as I love my Mac. But may have to break down and buy a windows based laptop.

Check if Mac is seeing the connection. Apple Menu>More Info, scroll to the bottom and click System Report. Select USB from the left side under hardware. With the laser unplugged from USB take note of what appears, then plug in and turn on the laser, Click File Menu>Refresh information and see if anything changes. This would be your laser connection. Check in Lightburn for the device.

If you don’t see it in the USB list, try the same procedure going through a “Dumb” 2.0 Hub. If you still don’t see it, borrow a PC from someone and see if it works there. You may have a bad controller or other issue.
