Lightburn Parameters

So we recently bought 4 new BOSS laser machines with touchscreens. I had to change the parameters in lightburn to match the 4 new ones. However, the 8 machines we already owned are older BOSS laser cutters without touchscreen. We have over 10,000 .RD files already with the old parameters so they don’t cut properly on the new machines. Am I going to have to go through each file and resave them individually or is there a way to apply the new parameters to ALL files at once?

A machine having a touch screen or not should have no effect on what output power the files use. Is the new machine a different wattage than the old ones? (that would affect it)

There is not a way to change .RD files in large batches. We’re working on a way in LightBurn to have files auto-link to material library settings, so moving a file to a different laser could automatically update the cut settings for the new machine, but that won’t help you with RD files - those are stored in a laser specific format, with none of the information we’d need to do this.

So, the vendor doesn’t have a utility that can do your conversions? What exactly is off? Power percentages only, speed? or is it something more? ( I do custom file conversions, so just curious )

What parameters are you trying to change? Some may be controlled by controller limits such as Max power. There is some versatility there.

Ever use RDWorks? I think that’s related to the vendor :crying_cat_face:

Without information on the file or record structures it can be pretty tough.

:smiley_cat:

I do have the capability to read in original RDWorks saved files and change / convert them. (*.rld format). I do NOT have the capability to change the .rd files Rdworks pushes to the Ruida controller. (Well, I could, but I don’t have any code written for that. ) So, it all depends on WHAT needs to be changed for each file.
