So I upgraded to the latest version yesterday (august 20 2025). I started to have failed sends to the laser via my network, I left for the day, powered down the lasers and came in the next day.
Fired up the laser and found that Lightburn no longer would talk to my Laser via CAT6 Network.
This has worked flawlessly until the upgrade. Rebooted the laser and the computers, nothing.
Replaced the CAT6 cable, nothing. Fired up my Omtech Polar (also on CAT6) worked! I swapped the network cables, still no communication on the Thunder. confused I tried to add another copy of the Thunder, in devises (Lightburn would’nt work and crashed twice). I ended up going into the Omtech Device settings, reconfiguring them to point to my Thunder and Success. So what on earth is the problem Lightburn! Please address this ASAP
Added: I’m constantly have ‘failed’ sends now partially through each send. I have to retry sometimes 3 or 4 times in order to get the file sent to the laser. Bigger files are a pain now!!!
Well, this is not what anyone wants. Please share what configuration(s) you used from the Polar on the Thunder Device setup. Do you still have the crash reports generated? Those are helpful for diagnostics.
Lets start with this…
Edit: If you revert to 1.7.08 with your previously working device profiles, does everything work as expected? This would indicate it is not the update. Does your router have static IP addresses assigned or reserved for each laser connected through your network?
I did not have the Debug option on so I do not have a crash report. I have turned it on now but
thats kinda like closing the barn door after the horses ran off.
I have not reverted as right now I’m in such a busy schedule with things to do that I’m happy
at the moment its working, well enough, to allow me to work on projects. It does error alot
during File Sends and I have to restart them alot.
I use static IP’s (each laser is set up with it’s own IP address) and I manually set up each
laser in the Devices menu. I Choose Ruida-Ethernet/UDP-IP address-Units,work area-Origin
