I suddenly have some strange behavior in lightburn, it’s now outputting the program upside down. The simulation shows it starting at the lower left corner but the program doesn’t come out that way. If I rotate 180 degrees, the program comes out right side up, but it starts at the top instead. I’ve been using it all weekend and it just now started doing that. I restarted, same behavior. I walked away and had lunch, same. I cursed at it and restarted again, nothing. Anybody have any ideas?
Have you possibly changed origin in device settings? Try setting this differently to see what happens.
Yes, I switched it from the lower left (where it’s always been) to the upper left, and now it’s outputting correctly…or at least the way I want it to. I’ve never understood the origin setting. Everything I do and have ever done has the origin in the center so I don’t know what this setting is actually doing. Every program I post, I get an error about out of bounds, but it’s not out of bounds. I just ignore the message and it and it works fine anyway. Thank you for helping me with this. I don’t know why I have to put it in reverse to go forward but at least I can get back to what I was doing.
I suggest you view this help video on this subject. Look in your laser documents to see if it says where the origin or home is located.
I watched the video but it doesn’t address my problem. I have machine origin at lower left, and my job origin in the center with “user origin” Everything looks good on screen, and the simulation shows it starting at lower left corner of the job, which is what I want. But the program is ouput to start at the upper right, and the image is upside down. Now, I have an additional issue because when I import a photo, it comes in rotated 90 degrees to the left. I rotate it back upright, post a program, and it comes out upside down again. Everything I try comes out 180 degrees from what I want.
Solved!!! I went bug hunting and found that if I turn off “cnc machine” in device settings, everything is back to normal. I’ve never noticed that setting so I don’t know what state it was before. Or how, or when it got changed. But it seems cool now. Much thanks.
EDIT…disregard that solution. Now I suddenly can’t import a photo at all.
That was a solution, and it has nothing to do with importing images.
How do you import? I just drag and drop them from File Manager. Does this work for you?
It’s never allowed me to drag and drop. The cursor turns into a circle with a line thru it when I drag it in.
New one on me. What version of Windows are you using?
windows 11. Lightburn has been super buggy for the past few days. About half the time, when I load a program into my machine (from usb) it shows a stripe across the image, or sometimes half the image is offset. I plugged the code into an NC viewer and sure enough, it’s lightburn outputting it that way. But if I do anything at all to the image, just change one thing and repost, it comes out right. But the real challenge right now is the upside down thing.
Do you have Microsoft Word? If so, can you drag an image into that? What I am wondering is whether or not you have this issue with other applications besides Lightburn.
Good suggestion. I’m away from the shop at the moment, will experiment later. Thanks.
I tried importing anything and everything every which way I can into every application and no issues there. Wondering if I should just uninstall lightburn and re-download. I can deal with some quirky behaviors and little bugs and glitches but this thing is all over the place. Every other time I sit down, there’s something new screwed up and no apparent relation to anything.
That was going to be my suggestion.
- Have your License Key number handy.
- Reboot your PC before the new download and install.
