Lightburn software on multiple computers

Hi, i bought the LightBurn Software last year on my laptop connected to my laser.
I thought i would work on my main stationary pc instead so i logged on the lightburn site and downloaded it, but there is no “Log in” option in the software.
Do you seriously need another license to use it on another machine?

no you do not,
go to the forum and go here to get the info you need.

unnecessarily complicated for something like this.
i would also like to add that i now have to purchase another 30$ worth of license because mine expired because the software has been updated?
this is scummy behaviour

Unfortunately, you’re both incorrect. The Lightburn license includes 1 year of updates. When your year is up you can either renew for continued updates, OR continue using the last version that was valid during your license term, forever. You do not need to renew the license to continue using the software, only if you want updates.

You can download previous versions from the Lightburn website.

@GuntherWolfgang I suggest you email support@lightburnsoftware.com. They may refund you and reset your license to prior values. I don’t know that they will, but it’s worth a try.

We make an effort to be clear about how the license works. People still get tripped up by it.

Your key will work indefinitely for versions that were produced within one year of purchase.

You found this download page: Download / Trial – LightBurn Software

Scroll down on the Download page to Previous versions and select a version that was offered before your key expired. Download and install any version that works with your key. Enter your Key in the Help window. You should be able to activate three computers using your key without issue.

If you’ve paid for it, you’ve paid for it and those previous versions are available for you to use with your key.

New versions contain new features which we have to pay the team to produce. Updating your key to allow access to new features costs less than purchasing again.

You activate the appropriate version of LightBurn on the computer that you want to use by clicking Help in the top bar and then License Management in the drop-down menu.

If you need to remove a key from a computer that has become inaccessible, you can use the License Portal to make adjustments to your key registration, confirm the expiry date of the key and remove computers as needed.

Make a login system instead of having to fiddle with license keys on seperate machines and keeping track on versions.
This information should be easily accessible on the accounts main page.
And when it comes to the license expiration date, that should also be on the purchases main information, not tucked in license document.
Idk about everyone else but i tend not to read those because they are usually 100 pages long and dull

I’ll take these ideas to the team. I’m not sure I’m following you… When you’re suggesting ‘the accounts main page’, is this a page that you’ve seen here?

The Forum login is separate from the commerce login and neither talk to the software key system.

The Forum is Stand-alone. Anyone with an email address is welcome as long as the Terms of Service are followed. We answer questions and help people during their Free Trial period. This helps us uncover incompatibilities with new hardware. It would make tying the Forum account to the license key challenging.

I appreciate your willingness to contribute but I may have to adjust some of your responses here. It’s important to communicate clearly and cautiously with folks that are fighting their way through a problem. It’s extremely valuable for us to capture feedback as well.

I was refering to the store page where the licenses are.

No fiddle needed. One key, up to 3 machines at the same time. In the old days, they called it “1 license, 3 seats”.

I have 3 machines activated and it was a no-brainer. If there was difficulty, it might have been due to different expectations of how it should work. I have been working with PC’s and software since 1974, and this system was very easy for an old man to use.

We already have a license system, what do you mean “Fiddle with license keys” ?

Are you using the License Portal to view your key ?
