I updated lightburn to the latest version. Now it will run a design but if I try to do a new design to cut it crashes every time. I have to restart. Any ideas?
So it will run your existing projects but not any new ones?
If there is a âLightBurn_Crash_Log.txtâ file on your desktop, please email that to us at support@lightburnsoftware.com, with a link to this forum topic included.
At exactly what moment does the crash happen? Iâm guessing that if you double-click on a LightBurn project file LightBurn will open and function ok , but if you try to start a new project or open LightBurn from the desktop shortcut will it crash?
Or is it only crashing when you attempt to âStartâ or âSendâ the job to your machine?
Try going to File>Preferences>âLoad Prefs backupâ and then âLoadâ a preferences backup from last week.
- Knowing what it says for an error message will help.
- Are you saying old projects work, but trying to create a new one in Lightburn crashes the software?
- Did you try reinstalling a precious version of Lightburn make the problem go away?
I do have a log on my desktop I will email. It stops working after every job, I cannot load a new job without restarting. I am running it from a shortcut on my task bar and I have always done this and it has been great. now I am not sure what is happening. I will also try the suggestion you gave me and see if that helps
Thank you and look for the email please.
Brenda
Ahh, ok, so the crash is happening just after any job finishes?
The crash log hopefully will contain the clues we need, Iâll look out for it, you can attach it here if itâs easier.
Thank you Nicholas
I emailed it to you already
yes just after any job finished and I canât even frame an object. I tried several things, like duplicating, moving it, nothing would work at all.
The crashlog looks old as it was for version 1.5.01.
Are you currently running version 1.7.06?
If you are definitely on the latest version, and if LightBurn is freezing, this could be an issue with windows files and it might help (or at least wonât be of any harm) to download and install (or ârepairâ if itâs already installed) the latest supported version of the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable:
For your Windows 11 system, download and run this installer: https://aka.ms/vs/17/release/vc_redist.x64.exe
Or it could be something else⌠how did you get on with loading a preferences backup? - try that first.
