LightBurn v2.0.00-RC8 Release Candidate

No. These are the directional arrows in lightburn. The ones on control panel work fine. This was working in rc7 but now in rc8, they do not.

I had previously reported this in the RC7 thread, and had not seem the issue with RC8, but have just seen again. My LightBurn is set with my 200mm lens on my Fiber Laser as the default device. Say I open a file that was saved for my UV Laser with a 200mm lens. LightBurn informs me that I am opening a file that was created with that device, and if I would like to switch to that device profile. Upon saying Yes, the LightBurn interface disappears. There is no crash window, and no crash log is created. I was able to capture this with Debug Logging turned on, and have attached that debug log here in hopes that my shed some light on what’s going on. Windows 11 machine, files are stored on a Synology NAS device that is local, shared via a mapped drive to Windows via an SMB Share from the NAS. Happy to provide any more details I can.

Another issue I came across, I don’t know if it has been reported already:
The backwards compatibility between 1.7 and 2.0 files has been great so far, but recently, I noticed that fonts are not transferred correctly:

The file has been created with 1.7, then I opened and modified it using 2.0 and wanted to open it with 1.7 again and all the fonts are missing. As far as I can remember, this was working before.

2.0 (left) - 1.7 (right)

Hi Steve - I don’t see anything specific in that log besides IO comms. Generally when LightBurn crashes without a crash log it’s because the PC ran out of RAM, but the switching of devices has me thinking there may be some difference between the laser source type you have selected for your UV laser.

There may have been some change in how fonts are handled that make them incompatible backwards - I’ve asked internally.

This was indeed a bug, and has now been fixed. Will be included in a future RC

E-Mail with user bundle was just sent with a reference link to this post.

Confirming receipt, Thanks Steve.

Does this happen if you open a file that is stored on the local computer? I tried setting up the scenario you described (UV file, loaded while using the fiber 200 lens) using your bundle, and it works as expected for me. I don’t have your file system setup though.

When you say “the arrow keys” do you mean the buttons in the Move window, or do you mean your keyboard arrow keys? If you’re referring to the latter, those ONLY work if the editing area in LightBurn has the keyboard focus - you have to click into the edit window before using the numpad arrows.

To me, that looks like those tags simply don’t have the required definition. Either due to lighting or insufficient resolution, or both.

What resolution is reported when you capture?

These are the arrow keys that are not working again.

I haven’t tried that, as all of my work files are stored on the NAS. It’s not something that happens all the time, or that often. I can’t actively reproduce it, just randomly happens. I can open the same file multiple times and not have it happen, then the next time, it will.

4k 15fps :frowning:

Another Issue: cannot use anymore tabs cuts/layer - Macros - Laser - Move - etc

My OS is W11 with LightBurn Core 2.0.00-RC-8 @ 24d29f7 Qt6.5.7
I am locked and cannot use anymore the software as the tabs are no more accessible.

Currently i have the information related to the console. But the console Tab doe’s not appear. And event if i select another tab, this is not working.

I have uninstall and reinstall the same version = same issue.
Back to the version 1.7.8 it is working.

Solution : I have closed all the tabs and reopen them. Seems to be ok now.

Is there a way to add a port number to a device that is connected over the ethernet in v2?
Using ‘0.0.0.0:5023’ for example doesn’t work.

The reason I ask is that I want to write a service for linux and port 23 is restricted. There are ways around it, but I’d rather move to an unrestricted port.

When setting up a GRBL controller over the network you are asked a IP address.

The port defaults to 23 - as is what GRBL firmware default to, but you can edit it here:

Thanks for the tip. Unfortunately, as mentioned above, I always get an “invalid ip/hostname” error when I try to close that dialog with “ok”. Even if I didn’t change anything.

Interesting, could you send a screenshot for documentation?
I am going to inquire with Dev team.

Sure. I just opened the dialog and then pressed ok without changing anything.
