Just installed RC4, yes the windowing is fixed based on my limited testing. Thank you..
I downloaded it yesterdayā¦going to test it today
If you have the log, check to see if it contains āMTU changedā in it anywhere. Aside from that, nothing to do with UDP was touched.
(we check the hardware MTU and potentially reduce the max packet size to the Ruida based on it - The message is misleading, as we donāt touch the MTU)
Yes please. Please email the log and include a link to this thread for context.
Oz offered:
The āVariable packet sizeā thing was only for USB communication to Ruidas. Shouldnāt affect network at all, but Iāll double check. Ok, technically it could affect UDP, so the log might be useful. If his network has a forced lower MTU size it might be an issue. Heād see
MTU changed:in the log.
Still investigatingā¦
Thanks @ednisley. Yes, this is intentionally set for RC releases. When using an RC, we force notification, as these releases are for testing. We want to ensure folks are testing the latest, most current candidate. ![]()
@ednisley Correct - pre-release versions require update checks. This is because weāll have people message us with an issue that we already fixed weeks ago because they are still running an old RC. The only real bug here is that the checkbox in question isnāt disabled entirely when running a pre-release version. The pre-release builds intentionally have as few code changes between full release as possible. Otherwise we might end up with a bug in full release that we never saw because the code only takes that path in full release mode and we never see it.
In this particular case Iād mostly rather just have to deal with occasionally letting the users now that that checkbox does nothing in pre-release. But one of the ācostsā of pre-release usage is that you are expected to always be on the latest Beta or RC.
Fair enough. TIL, etc.
Iāve surely mentioned this before, but Iām very much on your sideā¦

As is always the case, I have been unable to make it fail since then, but AFAICT the logs say nothing about MTU tweakage.
Iāll (try to remember to) turn on the log until either I catch an example or it becomes obvious the dog will not bark in the night.
Woof! Thanks @ednisley. Iāll share with Oz. ![]()
