Lightburn will not communicate with Monport 40w

Hi, I’m new to both Lightburn and to laser burning. I’ve just taken delivery of a Monport 40w CO2 laser engraver/cutter which I bought from Monport U.K. as “Lightburn ready”. I installed the machine in Lightburn as per the Monport instruction manual and have connected to it using my MacBook Pro running Monterey and the supplied USB cable. The problem I have is that Lightburn will not control the Monport, despite the Monport being recognised and installed. As an example, I manually move the laser heads to the centre of the work space and then click “Home” and nothing happens. This is the same if I try to burn something. Any help would be really appreciated! Thanks!

You can sort by date and work backwards.

OEM USB cables are typically junk. Buy one with ferrite cores from a known-good source, throw the OEM cable in the trash, and prevent a whole bunch of heartache & confusion.

Thanks for the advice. I’ll do just that! :+1:t2:

Thanks everyone, problem solved! I needed to select “cu.usbserial-1410” in the laser control box!
