Lightburn on my HP laptop will not load projects or files. When I use my Apple laptop, it opens fine. I’ve uninstalled and re-installed with no improvements. I am using Windows 11 with the latest Lightburn version.
So if you go to File Open or Import > Window opens with your Files > Select File > Press Open…what happens next?
I’m using hp probook and LB Ver 1.7.8.
Where are you opening them from?
When I try to open a project file, it acts as if it opened a file but the work area is empty. When I used the Apple laptop, it opens fine with all the vector elements intact. With the HP laptop, I built a test file with a couple of rectangle vectors and saved it as project. When I open that, it opens fine. Old project files opens empty.
I use the File/Open function of Lightburn. The file is located in a OneDrive server. I’ve open the file and engraved it successfully last week. I just could not for the life of me figure out why the HP laptop will not open the file while yesterday, I was able to open and engrave with the Apple laptop. The Apple laptop is my work laptop so I rather not use it in the garage tethered to the laser engraver while engraving for 1.5 hours.
Hi Noel
Was the Onedrive originally set up for the Apple, there could be a conflict between Apple and Microsoft files.
Were the files originally saved on Onedrive via the Apple laptop…Could you save to Onedrive from the Hp and then retrieve successfully back to the Hp for use in lightburn.
I take it there are no pop-ups telling you there is an issue of some kind.
Could you try to setup Onedrive from Hp laptop through Microsoft and then access the Apple type Onedrive files from there…Maybe it will do the file type conversion or recognition like file extension etc.
I’m not an expert in this area, but it seems like something gets lost in translation.
@Pete.IRL may have nailed it. It is generally recommend to NOT use remote or Cloud storage for the working files location. Working on your local drive and using the remote server for backups is best. Desktop and network applications have different file locking and storage rules.
