Lightburn WONT load my trace

I have a Longer Ray5 5w, currently Im having HUGE problems with my system freezing and crashing once I try and trace my image. When I load my image ill adjust it to liking, then save as a bitmap then when I load it back in and then try to trace my system freezes and crashes been going on for around 3 days. This is the only way I have found to get true and clear photos engraved with this machine. Any help would be appreciated more than you know.

How about you post the photo in question and let the Hive mind work on it with you?

Heres the photo that it keeps freezing on.

Ok, can you post the bitmap file that you have saved?

Sorry Sir, I’m just new to this and Im not extremely tech savvy and Im brand new to engraving and everything was going just fine till it wasn’t. I’ve almost emailed support as well. So hopefully something with your alls knowledge and theirs as well I can figure out a solution.

We are here by choice. We love to help you learn how to do stuff. No bother at all.

Thanks, I just hope to figure out this problem.

I downloaded the bitmap and quick poke at tracing,

Yes as you can see its traced really good but when I go to load it into light burn it crashes. I’ll download your photo and see if it works with that. If so, was there any program other than lightburn you used?

I am not having a lot of success with the photo and the adjustment sliders… Photo engraving is not my specialty, but I will try.

I am only in Lightburn.

Can you tell us what your OS and memory are? You may get more progress if you shrink the photo down to a small size - it may be a memory limit.

Do you mind telling us why you want to trace this at the first place?

Someone wanted the picture engraved on wood for a family member since the lady in the photo has passed away.

I could be using the whole setup wrong. Its just the only way I have taught myself how to burn a good image on the wood

If you want the picture just use the photo mode play with the contrast and burn it. You could remove the background to get more attention to the person. I do not think you will have any advantage tracing this photo.

+1 I agree. The photo is not suitable for tracing, at least to my level of ability. A direct engraved photo as suggested by @Enno may be your only chance. It does not have to be in Grayscale, please also look at Stuki for the dithering logic. Photos are my kryptonite in LB :frowning:

WHY your machine chokes on the Trace command, I cannot say. I can. my results are horrible, but not machine crashing horrible.

Right I understand. I just for some reason haven’t had a problem with the first maybe 5-6 photos I have done. Added is some photos of done from work and a picture for someone to get the right settings. But I appreciate it.
