I installed the limit switches on my Sculpfun S9 machine, and they work, but the machine knocks on the switch four times before finding its place!
Depends on the firmware version and settings. Usually it’s twice. Hopefully, you didn’t upgrade the firmware. The stock firmware should have worked fine directly.
Hello Kai,
Does it appear to slam into the switch or is it a gentle touch-off? Four times still sounds like more than necessary.
If you press the metal lever of the endstops with your finger, does it feel clicky and does the LED light up?

And if you need to reflash the firmware:
Is it definitely homing once with four touches of each switch, or could it be homing twice in a row (each time with two touches)?
If you home the X axis only by entering $HX into the Console Window, do you still get four touches?
I adjusted the distance to 10mm so I could see that it would definitely come out, and it took a hit four times before finding a spot, and there was no damage to the console, so I assume it was ok
You did not say if you performed the $HX as @NicholasL said above.
HOME
- Trolley and gantry rapid move towards the switches.
- When the switches are hit, the machine will stop and reverse. It may not reverse until both switches are found.
- The machine will pull off the switches slowly until the switches open.
- The machine will reverse back onto the switches very slowly until the switches close.
- The machine will reverse and pull off the switches slowly until they open.
- The controller establishes this as the Home position. It is usually shown as something very close to 0,0 as the position if the controller is set for the first quadrant. If it shows large numbers, this can be changed with the G10 command.
There is no other version of the Home cycle. If you have limit switches, this is how it should work.
NOTE: There is no mechanical, electrical, or program reason for this last statement to be wrong.
It didn’t accept the command at all, it became a curse!
Explain. What did it show in the Console window? Copy and paste the text starting with the $HX and down
